The Infant King--Basque Christmas Carol

The Infant King (Old Basque) Lyrics 1. Sing lullaby! Lullaby baby, now reclining, Sing lullaby! Hush, do not wake the Infant King. Angels are watching, stars are shining Over the place where he is lying. Sing lullaby! 2. Sing lullaby! Lullaby baby, now a-sleeping, Sing lullaby! Hush, do not wake the Infant King. Soon will come sorrow with the morning, Soon will come bitter grief and weeping: Sing lullaby! 3. Sing lullaby! Lullaby baby, now a-dozing, Sing lullaby! Hush, do not wake the Infant King. Soon comes the cross, the nails, the piercing, Then in the grave at last reposing: Sing lullaby! 4. Sing lullaby! Lullaby! is the babe a-waking? Sing lullaby! Hush, do not stir the Infant King. Dreaming of Easter, gladsome morning, Conquering Death, its bondage breaking: Sing lullaby! Christmas in Basque Carols make up an important part of the Christmas festivities in Basque as they represent a cheerful greeting which is taken from house to house. "The Infant King" and "The Angel Gabriel" are two of the more beautiful and touching Basque carols sung around the world. Known for its deep Catholic Faith, the region of Basque has given the Church such great saints as St. Ignatius of Loyola and St. Francis Xavier. Wolves in Sheep's Clothing - alternative Christmas carol

This is me singing an alternative Christmas carol to the tune of "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing". I wrote the lyrics in language similar to the style of the 17th century. Here are the lyrics: Hark! The herald angels sing, Be we wolves in sheep's clothing. Peace on earth and mercy mild; Heathens burn in hell-flames wild. Let their sin-stained fibres crust! Let us laugh with godly lust! Raise war-cries lascivious: Death to all aloof from us! We behave with courtesy And speak of love and charity. Open doors for us to see Deepest insecurities. Get you down on bended knee! Admit moral dependency! He shall reconcile with thee If thou cede thy dignity! You must defer you to your betters; Place your intellect in fetters. Renounce instinct and good sense; Come ye to make recompense For thy years of pride unaided, Ne'er by saintly precepts braided. No good on earth can there be If man's mind is to reign free! Smell! The heathens' fibres singe! On their torment let us binge! Stench of roasting flesh we yearn! God made sinners to be burned! Heaven on the clouds erected's Only for the saints elected! With angelic hosts proclaim: Let all infidels be slain!
