UPGRADING A P4 CPU TO A COMPATIBLE MULTI-CORE CPU?
My PC currently runs a Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz single core CPU; Win7 rates it as a 1.7 on it's "Windows Experience Index", which is the lowest rating of all the parts in my PC. The other ratings vary from 4.0 to 5.5 and I'd like to upgrade the CPU. I'd like to know if there are multi-core CPUs out there that wouldn't be too advanced for the mobo to handle, and if so, which one would be the best while remaining compatible with the mobo CPU slot. I'm a network admin but have lost track of PC parts tech expertise over the last decade. Thx in advance. WHICH IS BETTER INTEL P4 3.8 GHZ CPU OR GOING TO DUAL CORE?
I am upgrading my old system from a socket 478 to 775 (im on a budget) lol And I have a wonderful Intel P4 3.8 800 Mhz FSB cpu on my list. I play a few games on my pc. Oblivion and such. Would i be ok with that cpu or should I just fork out the money and go ahead and get a dual core cpu and which kind of speed would I realy be looking for?

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR A P4 CPU TO OVERHEAT WITH NO HS AND FAN?
Hi, I have ordered a heatsink and fan online for a computer i'm building and i was just wondering if it would be safe to run it without the heatsink and fan for a few minutes in the bios. i just want to see what the specs are. would this be safe. Thanks

P4 CPU'S NORTHWOOD VS PRESCOTT?
im thinking of upgradeing my cpu i i definitly want HT i want at least 3.0 ghz id like 1mb cache but 512k mb is fine is northwood the only 1 with HT? or does prescott have it too? id prefer 800 mhz fsb i know they go up too 3.4 ghz , any suggestions?>
