Danger Kids!!

Danger Kids!! This is a new song I am in the process of mixing for my upcoming free internet album that I plan to put out this month or as late as Jan 15th. This song has lots of the key elements in the sound that I am trying to build. I hadn't much thought of a description of the music i am trying to learn to make until this song. I realized that some of the key things in my song are that I usually do not repeat parts, so instead of verses and choruses, everything is just a bunch of vocal verses usually. I think the first band i sorta heard doing this was the shins, where the parts might sort of repeat, but each chorus at least has some sort of new rhythm, but the music is still generally pop. I started doing this first because I wanted to cut too many parts, so i could delete the bad ones later on, but more I have just been keeping all the parts in there, and i guess i am getting used to that. Techniques.... i want to learn as many techniques recording as possible. Some of the interesting ones in this song are really simple things that are silly. For example, I have one part in the beginning where all i do is give the drums a noticeable volume boost, where it sounds like someone just turned up the sound. That is sorta silly and I have heard it done before, but I just kinda like. I am doing other things mixing natural drums w/ electronic drums, from loops, and stripping out the bass drum from the natural sounding drums and keeping 909 and 808 kicks from old school rap beats. I think that is kinda fun. The other thing I have is a part where there really aren't any words, just a bunch of mumbling. I always write my lyrics just mumbling stuff, and then write lyrics around them. Usually i lose some of the original feel, so here i decided ... hey, why not just leave it as mumbling... :) Hope you enjoy. This is a very rough mix done on headphones, so i will remix for the album.
