MDA Project

Our names are Alex Givan, Stacy Michas and Evan Barret and our goal is to raise support, awareness and money for those effected by Muscular Dystrophy. We are all seniors at Cherry Creek High School and hope to spend our senior year helping the community in the best ways that we can. The muscular dystrophies (MD) are a group of more than 30 genetic diseases characterized by progressive weakness and degeneration of the skeletal muscles that control movement. Some forms of MD are seen in infancy or childhood, while others may not appear until middle age or later. The disorders differ in terms of the distribution and extent of muscle weakness (some forms of MD also affect cardiac muscle), age of onset, rate of progression, and pattern of inheritance. Muscular Dystrophy Association works to help those affected by the disease and fund further research on the disease. We have been working closely with this association and have gotten close with a few patients affected by the disease through the summer camp at Easter Seals in the summer. We will help plan this amazing event next summer as well. We have also been assisted in setting up a site where people can make donations that we need help publicizing. Our group has done a number of events already. We worked at the MDA telethon. We worked at the MDA summer camp with kids who have MD. We have run a dunk tank at our homecoming game that featured teachers, as well as an administrative director, getting dunked for $5. This event was covered by The Villager. We have also written articles in our school newspaper. We put up a number of informational posters around the school. A number of coin collectors have been placed around our community at local businesses. We also have restaurants willing to donate 25% of their profits in one night towards MD and at each of these events we will give out information. We also handed out goodies and fliers explaining our cause to our neighbors on Halloween in the form of a "BOO". This is a tradition where you receive your BOO! with your treats, make three copies and pass it on with more treats to your neighbors. The goal of this event was to raise awareness. We also sold a number of football mobiles to our classmates for a dollar each over the course of several days. We have a number of small events planned for the future but we have one major event that we need help to publicize. We are currently using Facebook to publicize a number of our events and the response rate is huge but we would like to reach people who are not on Facebook as well. We are putting on a Magic Show. Tickets are being sold for $5 each and all proceeds will go to Muscular Dystrophy except for the $115 needed to pay for technicians, security and custodial services. The event will take place at Cherry Creek High School in the Fine Arts theater. Our goal is to sell 1,000 tickets, raising $5,000, and we need help doing this. This event is guaranteed to be amazing and has taken months to plan, and in the case of our magician Josh Sihombing, three years. We are all incredibly passionate about this cause and have gone through a number of obstacles to reach our goals. Please help us make this happen. And as our slogan says, "All You Need Is Love". Thank you so much. Alex Givan Stacy Michas Evan Barret Josh Sihombing

Halloween: Scaring Up Big Profits
It’s not just for kids anymore Traditionally, thoughts of Halloween conjure up wholesome images of children, costumed and playful on a cool autumn night, laughing their way from house to house and subtly extorting candy and other confections from willing neighbors. Recently though more and more adults are celebrating the day, and as you would expect, this has had a positive impact on Halloween related retail sales “Adult costumes account for over 62% of our Halloween costume sales,” said Davi

Halloween History
History Halloween has its origins in the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain (Irish pronunciation: [ˈsˠaunʲ]; from the Old Irish samain).[1] The festival of Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture, and is sometimes [2] regarded as the "Celtic New Year".[3] Traditionally, the festival was a time used by the ancient pagans to take stock of supplies and slaughter livestock for winter stores. The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, now known as Hal

This is so cool!
This is so cool! A while back I had a real good friend ask “what exactly is it that you do in your online business” I told him and gave him a few tips he could use to buy at wholesale. Today I just found out he bought 4 of these really cool little Jon boats for $1000 total. He turned around and sold them in less than three weeks for $750 each! He and his wife are a young newlywed couple and an extra $2000 is a big deal to them. It makes me feel great to get to help out.
