50th Anniversary Speeches

Ali's and Mark's speeches for Mom and Dad's 50th Wedding Anniversary - 8/25/07 Ali's speech: You are two persons, but there is only one life. The life you have shared and will continue to share. May your days together be good and long upon the earth. The two of you have repeatedly demonstrated that a successful marriage requires falling in love many times...but always with the same person. So, a toast to your 50th year of marriage, a celebration of love, trust, partnership, tolerance and tenacity, the order of which I have learned from my week-shy-of-12-years-of-experience varies for any given year. Mark's Speech: While thinking about putting this speech together, I thought I'd take the easy way out and Google the definition of wedded bliss. I found The Wedded Bliss Foundation which promotes marriage in the Black community, I found the Wedded Bliss Magazine where you can announce your engagement , wedding, and anniversary (I think the first thing mom ever said to Lisa, Ali or I was "Do not ever, under any circumstance, put Dad's and my picture in the announcements section of the Daily Times), and I found WeddedBlissRaratonga.com which is for those that want a beautiful tropical wedding in the Cook Islands. But, I couldn't find a simple definition of wedded bliss. Then I had a V8 moment and realized that the definition is right here at our table. I think Cheryl says it best, "Mom and dad have this wedded bliss thing down." How do I put 50 years of marriage, 3 children, 8 grandchildren, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, brisses, graduations, concerts, plays, dance recitals, piano recitals, swim meets, soccer, football, basketball and baseball games, tennis matches, golf matches, happy times and sad times into a 2 minute speech? And, it gets even more complicated when I realize that I'm trying to talk about two people that have lots of aliases; Mr. and Mrs. Palmer, Phyllis and Boyd, mom and dad, grandma and grandpa, and aunt Phoo and Uncle Boyd. But, regardless of how you refer to them, regardless of where you see them, you see two people that have a profound effect on everyone whose lives they touch. You see party people. You see entertainers. You see bosses, you see coaches, and you see teachers. You see Presidents of this, and Chairman's of that. For those of us here tonight, we see parents, grandparents and close friends that have a tireless, uncompromising love for each other, for their children and for their grandchildren and are an inspiration and motivation to each one of us. We're here tonight because mom and dad are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Lots of people would probably think that they're the lucky ones. But we know who the real lucky ones are. It's us. Each one of us here tonight, because we get to celebrate being part of their lives. Mom and Dad, I've talked about who you are. Now let me tell you what you mean to Lisa, and Ali and me and to our spouses, Dan, Cheryl and Dennis, who are not just our spouses, but are your children, too. You have shown us the tradition of family, and being there for one another. You inspire, you motivate, and you encourage. And let me tell you what you mean to Adam and Max, to Jess, Em, Garrett, Sam, and to Molly, and Shannon. You bring into their lives the traditions of love and putting family first, traditions that began years ago with Nam and Gramps and Bamma and Bamps, and I'll bet, their parents before them. Mom and Dad, tonight we wish you a very happy 50th anniversary. We wish for you, and for all of us, the opportunity to celebrate many, many more of these special occasions together. We love you, we respect you, we admire you, we appreciate you and all you do for us, and...did I say we love you? Happy Anniversary.
1. IF I COULD DREAM AT ALL, I WOULD DREAM OF YOU part 1

Hey guys!! this is my new story...(I will keep writing What Will Happen Next) but this is JEMI/NELENA twilight version... enjoy :) this story is basiclly Twilight with a twist, some parts can be very similar and others can be completely different , I just hope you enjoy it. In this story none of the characters are famous, Nick and Joe are not brothers, and all the story is in Demi's point of view or Selena's, but mostly is in Demi's and so when I write in their point of view I'll be putting something like (Demi) or (Selena) and when I write in 3rd person Ill be putting nothing.. I hope its not so confusing, if it is please be kind and tell me. COMMENT/RATE/SUBSCRIBE/SHARE :) Demi) In an uninteresting resume of my life so far I can tell... After my parent's divorce I lived with my mom, and dad moved to a small town called Forks, at DC. It made things easier, and besides it was a long time ago, I haven't seen Charlie in a while. And by a while I mean... um... 3,4 years? But who is counting, anyways... My mom found a new man which I personally dont like a lot... he smells like tabacco and tuna, but if he makes my mom happy, I guess im happy. I have always been a loner, I dont blame my parent's divorce, i'm just one of those persons which is not interresting or extraordinary, in contrary im the definition of ordinary, if you look up ordinary in a dictionary i'm sure my name would come as an example of a synonym. I had never had a boyfriend or any love interest.. or a date.. or a kiss...and I'm 16, which for some people is weird, but for me it wouldnt be a surprise if I end up living alone in an old house full of cats. But dont get me wrong, im not ugly or weird looking.. im just like I said before really ordinary looking... I have brown hair, really pale skin, like.. uncomfortable white skin with some freckles... I have a pair of eyes.. a nose.. nothing especial on me. Oh.. one the only interesting news since my mother's really small cool wedding that was about a week ago was that im going to live with Charlie for a while, because my mom and her boyfriend are going on a honeymoon to Peru, and they will stay some months doing research. So... I guess me, Demi Lovato would be living in the "exciting" town of Forks, DC...great... My thoughs were interrumpted by my mother, Denisse. Denisse: DEMI! Come hug your mother... Are you sure you are going to be ok? I can always cancel my trip and--- Demi interrumpted her - Mom you are crazy... There's no way you are not going to Peru with your husband and besides.. its just going to be for the rest of the year, I'll get a chance to wear my snow boots that I really love and be some time with Charlie -- I mean dad. - I knew how mom hated it when I called him Charlie, because she felt guilty about us (Charlie and I) not having a relationship - at all. Demi and Denisse shared a sad look, a hug and some tears together. Demi was really was going to miss her, but not letting her go would be so selfish, and its not like she had a lot of things to lose here. Denisse: I'll send you an email every day, if you dont answer me I'll go myself to Forks for you. Demi: Dont worry Mom, I'll answer you.. Denisse took Demi to the airport and said goodbye. (Demi) On the plane, I started reading Shakespear's Romeo and Juliet, but stopped. How could somebody possibly believe in love at first sight? I dont know how many people can admire Shakespear if he had such wrong ideas... The trip went faster than I expected, and when I got down of the plane Charlie, was already there waiting for me.. Or I think it was Charlie, I haven't seen him in a while. Charlie: Demi! It's that you? - yes, it was Charlie. As far as I remeber he hasn't changed that much... He still wears a typical red with white square-tshirt and some kakhi pants; and a tie, he would never go out without a tie, even if it didnt matched with the outfit at all. And his Nike tennis, I think he have not changed those since he lived with us. But he looked good, and healthy, and looked a lot like me, totally ordinary. Mom was the one with the pretty looks, which I didnt heritate. Charlie hugged me awkwardly: Demi, I havent seen you in so long! How are you? Demi: Pretty good Cha-- Dad, its really nice to see you again. Charlie pulled something out of his pant pocket: Here, this is for you. Demi: What! A car? Dad... mom gave me money for me to buy one.. you didnt have to bother! Charlie: I didnt bother, I wanted to give it to you.. Demi smiled and thanked him. The trip back home was really quiet, some random questions of mom and school, that was it, and then they got to Charlie's home. CONTINUES AT PART 2!!!!
