My first German cover, though this is actually sung in Austrian German , which is quite difficult to pronounce for me [servus, Gov Schwarzenegger ;-)]. Taped this because I'm sick and tired of this winter, though it's not that cold this year. The song is about leaving home for good to live in a beautiful place at the seaside, which in the song happens to be in Greece. Here is a kind of broad translation: Last summer was so beautiful I was lying on the beach in some bay The sun like fire on my skin You smell the water and nothing's loud Somewhere in Greece, lots of white sand With just your hand on my back After two or three weeks I felt it I inhaled the meaning of life Your thoughts start turning 'round Everything that seemed important back home now seems so dumb You're lying under an olive tree and you're playing with some stones It's so different from home Chorus And one day I'll stay there, leave everything behind Leave my home for good That I promise, no matter how many years it'll take One day I'll stay there This old world is in a rush It's all about money and power Bankers are chasing you, you never seem to make ends meet And some day you start wondering "Why am I tormenting myself here instead of being somewhere else?"
